The Gii-Ishkonigewag Celebration Powwow is an annual gathering that honors the history, resilience, and living culture of the Ojibwe people in the East Lake (Minisinaakwaang) community. First held on the new Minisinaakwaang Powwow Grounds in 2022, the celebration takes its name from the Ojibwe phrase Gii-Ishkonigewag, meaning "what they saved for us." It recognizes the ancestors who remained in the Sandy Lake and East Lake homelands, preserving traditions, language, and community for future generations.

Designed as a celebration powwow, the event welcomes everyone to experience traditional dancing, world-class drum groups, Native arts and crafts, food vendors, and the vibrant spirit of Ojibwe culture. Grand Entries are held throughout the weekend, bringing together dancers, singers, veterans, elders, families, and visitors in a celebration of gratitude, unity, and cultural pride.

Set among the scenic woodlands of East Lake, the Minisinaakwaang Powwow Grounds provide a meaningful place to gather, reconnect, and share traditions with future generations.
