Log Home Wood Fired Pizza to Be Featured by America's Best Restaurants

MCGREGOR, Minn. — Log Home Wood Fired Pizza has been selected for a feature by America's Best Restaurants, a national media and marketing company that highlights independently owned restaurants across the country.

The America's Best Restaurants Roadshow will visit the McGregor restaurant on July 30 to film an episode featuring owner and chef Rick Herman, the restaurant's history and its role in the community. The public and members of the media are welcome to attend the filming.

After spending nearly 30 years in education, Herman turned his passion for cooking into a second career. In 2014, he and his wife, Nancy, launched Log Home Wood Fired Pizza after discovering Fire Within, a Colorado-based wood-fired oven company, and attending the company's Wood Fired University training program.

Since opening, the restaurant has become known for its wood-fired artisan pizzas and Northwoods atmosphere. In addition to serving customers at its McGregor location, the business also caters special events with a mobile wood-fired pizza trailer.

Log Home Wood Fired Pizza has remained active in the community through initiatives including the MERC Pizza Year-Long Scholarship Fundraiser, donations to local schools and civic organizations, participation in the Read at Home Initiative, and support for McGregor Chamber and 4-H events.

"Our mission has always been to serve McGregor and the Minnesota Northland a distinct food experience, traditional wood-fired pizza, and other wood-fired goodness, all created with fresh ingredients and artisan craftsmanship."

Among the restaurant's signature menu items are the Lumberjack artisan pizza, Sticky Maple Pepper Baked Chicken Wings and the Open Range artisan pizza. Many menu offerings incorporate regional ingredients, including wild rice and maple syrup, and are prepared in the restaurant's wood-fired oven.

The completed episode will premiere at a later date and will be shared through the restaurant's social media pages, America's Best Restaurants' website and its YouTube channel.
