Justin Bergman Launches IT North
HIBBING, Minn.—After years of working behind the scenes to keep businesses connected, Justin Bergman is stepping into a new role—business owner. With the launch of IT North, Bergman is bringing reliable, locally focused IT support to an area he believes has long been underserved.
Bergman’s path into technology began early. At just 21, he entered the managed IT field in Grand Rapids, working for Computer Enterprise and Connecting Point. When both companies were eventually acquired, he transitioned into freelance work, continuing to build hands-on experience across a wide range of systems and client needs.
He later joined a large web hosting company that supported high-profile clients, including Sprint and U.S. government systems. That role expanded his technical scope even further, preparing him for the complex environments he would later manage.
Most recently, Bergman spent five years at Floe International in McGregor, where he handled nearly every aspect of the company’s IT infrastructure. “Anything that plugged into the internet was under our purview,” he said. His responsibilities included managing networks, wireless systems, approximately 95 computers, and 30 servers, along with cybersecurity, backups, and software updates. He also supported audio-visual setups for company meetings and handled specialized technical needs outside the office.
The experience gave him both technical depth and a clear understanding of how critical responsive IT support is to daily operations.
From Side Business to Full-Time Service
Bergman launched IT North in January 2024 as a nights-and-weekends venture. Starting small with just two clients, the business grew steadily through referrals, reaching seven clients by 2025.
What pushed the company forward wasn’t just growth—it was a consistent pattern of unmet need.
“We were getting calls from businesses that didn’t have local IT support,” Bergman said. “Some were waiting up to five days just to get a password reset.”
Seeing a clear gap in the market, Bergman’s brother, Nathan Bergman, supports the company financially and helps provide strategic direction. The company may also consider hiring before bringing additional family members on board.
Another key advantage IT North provides is AI-driven efficiency. By utilizing AI in the background, the company can streamline routine tasks, allowing more focus on complex client needs and fast problem resolution.
Flexible and Affordable IT Solutions
One of IT North’s defining features is its flexible service model. Bergman understands that not all businesses want to commit to monthly contracts, so he offers both subscription-based plans and on-demand service.
“We don’t force anyone into a subscription,” he explained. “If you just need help once in a while, you can call us.”
For those who prefer ongoing support, IT North offers tiered service plans. The Core plan includes antivirus protection, system monitoring, and routine updates for operating systems and common software. The Standard plan builds on that by covering repairs for monitored issues at no additional cost, helping businesses better predict their monthly IT expenses.
Bergman says his services are typically 20 to 30 percent more affordable than larger regional providers, while still delivering the same essential support. Remote access tools also allow IT North to resolve many issues quickly without the added cost of travel, though on-site service is always available when needed.
A Focus on Local Response
At its core, IT North is built around responsiveness and community connection. Bergman’s goal is to provide fast, reliable support to local businesses that might otherwise be overlooked by larger companies.
By combining years of experience with a flexible approach, he aims to simplify IT for clients and eliminate long wait times for basic services.
“We’re local, and we can respond quickly,” he said. “That makes a big difference.”
As IT North continues to grow, Bergman remains focused on delivering practical solutions backed by real-world experience—helping businesses stay connected, secure, and productive.
