About ANGELS of McGregor
ANGELS was formed in 2004 to address the growing need for coordinated support services for older adults in the community. Its mission is to provide a wide range of services to residents age 60 and older, or 55 and older for Native American residents, helping them live safely in their homes with independence and dignity.
ANGELS offers transportation to medical appointments, errands, and community events, including long-distance trips to Aitkin, Grand Rapids, Duluth, Brainerd, and the Twin Cities. Additional services include chores such as yardwork, snow removal, safety device installation, and basic home maintenance; homemaker assistance with meal, prescription, and grocery pickup and delivery; consultations to identify and resolve safety and self-care concerns; and social support through the Friendly Connections program. This program matches clients with volunteers for regular calls, visits, and wellness checks to reduce isolation and improve overall well-being.
Over the years, ANGELS has evolved from a transportation-focused program into a comprehensive, volunteer-based service organization that adapts to emerging community needs. With Aitkin County’s aging population continuing to grow, ANGELS remains committed to expanding services, building trusted relationships, and supporting older adults now and well into the future.
