About Lakeside Quilters of Tamarack

The quiet hum of sewing machines in Tamarack, Minnesota reflects a meaningful purpose. The Lakeside Quilters of Tamarack are part of a nationwide effort to honor veterans through their work with the Quilts of Valor Foundation, turning fabric into symbols of gratitude and healing.

Founded in 2003 by Catherine Roberts, the organization began with a dream of a soldier comforted by a quilt. Since then, it has grown into a national movement with thousands of volunteers and hundreds of thousands of quilts awarded.

Locally, quilters meet regularly to create each Quilt of Valor, with many hands contributing to every piece. Labels sewn into the quilts honor both the recipient and the makers.

These quilts cannot be bought or sold—they are expressions of appreciation, recognizing the service and sacrifice of veterans. Each presentation includes a hug, symbolizing gratitude from an entire community.

For the Lakeside Quilters, this work is more than a craft. It is a heartfelt commitment to ensuring veterans are remembered, honored, and wrapped in the thanks of a grateful nation.
